Oh, the comforts of certainty… why is so daunting and intimidating to not know? We can really hold tightly to what we know we’ve done in the past and continue to play in that field, because it gives us comfort. Why? Ultimately, we trust what has been, but it has the effect of what we will do in the future. It can effect who we will stay as, or who we can become. This is where patterns come into place and staying in our comfort zone or stretching ourselves to expand.
In the comfort though, no magic of possibility has space. Perhaps we stay small, linger in the comforts and it leaves no room for the unimaginable. Staying in these small spaces and patterns makes it harder for us to dance with the uncertainty because we do not know! But knowing is for the logical, for only in the space of what we have done before… SO! If we are truly craving something to come into fruition, whether it be success, love, or any potential, we must let go of the logic, the straight-forward thinking, and take some risks.
No risk, no magic.
It is hard to create this new paradigm, because the ‘how’ comes into place. Fear comes in. But always knowing how, will truly never give us satisfaction. Fear can be our helper, too. Fear is not something to be judged or to take on the “be fearless'’ persona, as society pressures us to do. We must believe that the journey is so much more fruitful than the destination. Here is the truth: we cannot possible look at the external for certainty, or even the destination to know how we will get there. So, how do we create certainty? How do we dance with it?
To look within, not look outwards for your certainty. There is always potential space. We are humans- we have fears, the logical mind, and even the ego that says “Don’t go there, we don’t know what is behind that door. Stay comfortable.” Fear is necessary for growth, because there is potential when we stretch ourselves and take the leap, anyway! The human experience is meant to stretch us, or we would stay stuck, in the same place, predictable and boring. We are meant to evolve and up-level our lives by looking within, seek what is just not working anymore, and what we could be doing in order to grow. If we did not ever grow, we would never have *new* ideas, *new* perspectives to gain, or *new* ways of doing things. Patterns of limiting beliefs, attachments to the past, or other facts that keep us stuck, will continue to show up in our lives - in the same unfulfilling jobs, toxic relationships, or same attachments styles until we see a new way, and create space for the potential! When we see the potential, there is a lightness, a magic, and can bring us to that child-like place of wonder and imagination. We can start to see a new way and see that ~anything is possible, if we just believe~
Going back to what we must do - looking within.
Creating certainty only comes from us. We can have reassurance by getting support, but knowing deep within that no one or nothing can truly gives us the foundation, or ground us so deeply that FEELS crystal clear in who we are. In tapping into who we are in this season of our life, we can look within to see what IS working, and what just is not ANY LONGER. The key, is to stay in that curious place, to know that fear of uncertainty is just our ego letting us play small. Would you ever tell your child self to just be fearless, or will you give the younger version of you love, honoring, and relating to them? Letting them express these emotions and fears rather than judge them. We learn the language of ourselves when we are not avoiding, or looking outward for answers.
The potential of new perspective, traits or habits to develop, or space for something better to come through is not an overnight success kind of thing. Life just does not hand you everything you want on a silver platter, especially when you know there are things that need to shift within you. But good news, there is potential and seeing that with -hand on heart- certainty, is the first step. Be gentle with yourself, and give yourself grace for the loving awareness. It’s brave!
So, find that grounding practice that brings you back to who you are, without seeking others or things to validate you. If you need extra support to dance with the uncertainty, find that community, person to vent to, or dance through it, get into a shaking mediation, a sacred rage practice, or journal your brutal honesty with compassion. No matter what, breathe into this space that you already have everything within you that is capable. You’re showing up aren’t you? The more you show up, the more that capacity G R O W S. The more we show up, we stop contracting, and start responding. Are you willing to show up in the energy of potential?
Ask, where am I looking outside of myself for answers? What am I doing currently, when I am alone, that is limiting myself from matching such energy? (Energy as in: fulfillment, abundance, love, whatever you desire)
Everything is energy and it cannot be destroyed or made, but it CAN be shifted.
Just like breathing deeply with presence, releasing that big exhale just elevated your Spirit… Just like laughing and not taking yourself seriously is bringing that depth to Self and not taking it all too personally… Just like being honest with yourself in the mistakes you made is giving you strength, because you value your humanness… Just like if you knew exactly how your life would turn out would be like ruining a perfectly juicy story line…
Let your life be your art by creating certainty from within, dance with the fear of the unknown, because we are all just winging it. Can you anchor into yourself with honest reflection, with curiosity, rather than criticism?
Come back to yourself and be on your side today by saying, what do I KNOW for sure about myself when I desire something more, that feels unimaginable? Am I CERTAIN of the love I have to give, the value of my work, the gifts I do hold (that has nothing to do with educational skills)?
The more certainty we create, the more our perspective expands, our beliefs become more trusting, and we can learn the language of ourselves.
Trust that what you feel is the human in you and know you can create space to envision with curiosity and innocence. Consistently coming back to that, rather than dim your dreams or immediately put them down, because the potential that lies in the future of NOW is so much greater than you can even imagine. Who do I need to be to make this happen? Let it be a part of your story and know you’ll keep rewriting it. It is not where you go, it is who you become in the process. Put one foot into valuing yourself and one foot into the mystery. There is innate space for both.
xo.
